Conference: Institutions, Inequality and the Process of European Integration

Aims

The conference will be the final stage of the Chair activities and will serve different aims:

  • Presenting and discussing the latest advancements of knowledge in the fields of the project, produced by the Chair holder, the staff members (they all have the project topics among their major research fields) and invited scholar from EU and Extra-EU countries;
  • Reporting on the teaching experiences of the Chair holder and the staff members, drawing a evaluation report and listing a series of best practices;
  • Discussing the main topics of the project with actors of the civil society (policy makers, bureaucrats, workers and unions delegates, etc.) responsible or participating in the design and implementation of policies at various institutional levels.

Contents

In order to attain the various and ambitious objectives of the conference, it will be organised into different sessions:

1st day: session 1: Scientific session: Institutions, Inequality and the process of European Integration
A number between 10 to 15 scientific papers by the teaching staff members and other invited speakers will be presented and discussed during the first day of the conference. The session will be chaired by the Chair holder; all papers will have at least a discussant.
Audience: researchers.


2st day: session 2 (morning): The J. Monnet Chair teaching experience: reports, evaluation, best practices
The session will be dedicated to exchange of experiences of the teaching staff, to report the results of the evaluation exercise and provide a list of best practices in teaching on the topics that will serve for future work.
Audience: University teaching staff, lower level education teachers.


2st day: session 3 (afternoon): Final round table: implementing effective policies for social cohesion
The session will be a debate between academics and non academics. It will be introduced by an opening speech by the Chair holder; two rounds of spoken contributions by the invited speakers (policy makers, bureaucrats, workers and unions delegates, etc.) will follow; a summary and conclusive contribution by the Chair holder will close the round table and the conference.
